Today I rode for my cousin Aaron Hawkins who had leukemia as a child. We rode 76 miles but started off the day expecting 64 miles. I am learning that I cannot depend on the mileage given in the morning because things change, the rule when it comes to mileage it give or take 10-20 miles.
Today was the first time I felt like I could enjoy the area I was riding in. The first 40 miles were hard because the road was very rough, there was a lot of construction and not much of a shoulder. The last 35 miles I rode with Katherine, Stella and some of the boys. The boys were playing shuffle board behind us and us three girls enjoyed the ride and the scenery.
My family came out to meet us at Lindsay high school tonight. My mom brought birthday cake for her birthday that was yesterday and we hung out for a couple of hours. It was nice for them to be able to see what it is like when we reach a destination. Although I truly enjoyed seeing my family I had to say goodbye again. It seems like it gets harder each time. Possibly because I know its going to be longer until the next time I see them each time they leave.

Hi K2, received your text a little while ago and have read your journal. HOw is the heat and the wind? We think of you in the heat and wind - you can't get away from it... Do you usually arrive in the next town at a certain time each day? Do you know where you will be staying when you get to Dodge CIty? We are staying at the "Boot Hill B&B" in Dodge. We will be there to greet you when you arrive if we know an approximate arrival time for you and the team. Let us know. Did your dad meet you in Gainsville? Sleep well and sweet dreams. Love you lots, Nana and Grandpa
